About the Winemakers

James Mungall

James is Giovanni Patritti’s grandson and he carries on the family tradition of winemaking at the Dover Gardens winery. His career at the winery began around the same time he learned to walk and he has been there ever since. James took on the role of winemaker in 2002 and he is also responsible for managing the company’s owned and leased vineyards.

James is an awarded winemaker and is committed to continuing his family’s rich winemaking history. His deep respect for the past provides him with inspiration and visions for the future.

When not in the winery, James is an avid collector of the rare, old and interesting wines of the world.

Ben Heide

Ben's love for the wine industry began when he took his first job in the vineyards of McLaren Vale, immediately after finishing high school. He’d planned to work for a year before studying engineering at university. It wasn’t long before the lure of the industry captured him and he changed his university preferences to study Oenology at the University of Adelaide.

Ben first worked for Patritti whilst studying. After completing his degree, he moved to McLaren Vale for a few years but returned in 2006 as a full-time winemaker at Patritti.
